To Hire a student you need to first determine what your budget limit is for GRAs by checking the rates for your school and checking the current tuition costs for a GRA, and comparing to the available funds in your proposal or grant. Once you have calculated your budget parameters, you should send your request to hire GRAs to the staff member for your school with all the pertinent information. Below is a sample request form for hiring graduate students which includes all the required information the staff member needs to process the paperwork. You should also notify the staff member responsible for submitting tuition waiver requests for GRAs. This must be done within the deadline or the student may not receive the waiver. Please check with your staff for the deadlines. You should submit your request to hire a GRA well in advance of the semester(s) for which you are hiring the GRA. Whenever possible, it is best to support the GRA for the whole calendar year if not the entire academic year. |
